Driven by curiosity, we went to the island of Amrum in April 2015, being for the first time equipped with the \u201clugworm poo\u201d and \u201cnetwork\u201d- objects. Further conspicuous items were two action cams, which we had mounted on bamboo sticks and yellowoilskins to protect us from wind and rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PATHS led us across wooden tracks, dunes, dykes and salt marshes. Then finally across the Kniepsand dune to the sea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Against the backdrop\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a015 km long and up to 1,5 km\u00a0wide\u00a0beach, we\u00a0went our PATHS\u00a0through\u00a0the\u00a0North\u00a0Sea.\u00a0Holding the object \u201cNetwork\u201d above our heads, we were sailing\u00a0close to the wind.\u00a0At this point we let go\u00a0any control as artists and\u00a0yielded to\u00a0the\u00a0force of the elements.\u00a0Nature itself took over direction\u00a0to create,against this unique backdrop,\u00a0images of\u00a0stunning beauty that were captured by action\u00a0cams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PATHS \u2013 Wadden Sea, Art and Science<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0ongoing\u00a0project\u00a0PATHS \u2013\u00a0North\u00a0Sea<\/strong>\u00a0brought us in 2017 to\u00a0the Alfred-\u00a0Wegner-Institute\u00a0where we\u00a0interviewed\u00a0scientists\u00a0about different aspects of\u00a0the dynamic relationship between art and science.\u00a0It was particularly interesting\u00a0to discuss the\u00a0inner drive that\u00a0leads\u00a0people\u00a0to dedicating\u00a0themselves\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0either one\u00a0or the other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
