The power of myth

The auspicious cat from East Asia stands for all the talismans to which we time and again unthinkingly entrust our fate. The paw raised friendly to the greeting, she beckons us. But what if we accept her invitation? And what became of the hermit crab whose shell house she inhabits? Whose egg did she smuggle herself into? Lucky Hermit is a cipher for the seductions of myth and superstition that take hold of our thinking like a parasite.

The DA! Art Award

Düsseldorf’s first secular art award – the DA! Art-Award – is offered by the Düsseldorf Enlightenment Service every two years on a different theme. It aims to inspire artists to take a critical look at religion and irrationalism.
